Third Trimester Recap

Okay, so before I even get started on this third trimester recap, I have to give full disclosure and let you know that I’m writing this at 37.5 weeks on Christmas Eve.  BUT by the time this goes live, it will be January 4th…my scheduled induction date (39 weeks)!  It is absolutely insane to me that at this moment, I am a week and a half from meeting my little boy.  I can’t even contain my excitement.  Daniel and I have so many fun things planned for the last week of “just us” including a full date day that I have been looking forward to for weeks.  We are really just trying to maximize our time together before he comes because we know our lives will look so different so soon…in the best way!

As far as things that happened this trimester, I think the most notable was my baby shower!  We were gifted so many amazing things for Baby Denner, and I can’t even wait to use them all.  You can see our registry HERE which has pretty much everything on it. I have had such a fun time the past few weeks setting everything up and getting it all ready for him.

Speaking of, one of our biggest projects this trimester was his nursery!  In case you missed it, I shared a full reveal of his neutral nursery in this post earlier this week.  We worked on it for about a month or two and finally completed it around week 37 with the cute animal prints above his crib.  I absolutely am obsessed with how it turned out.

At around 32 weeks, we had our maternity photos taken, and they are so special to me.  Documenting every stage of this pregnancy from our announcement photos to our maternity photos has been something I am so glad I did. However, I wish I did better at taking weekly bump-date photos because you guys, I did awful at that.  I think I have photos from weeks 18, 19, 20, 24, & 28.  That’s it! If you are a pregnant mama-to-be, definitely do this because I wish I had them!

Other than that, we packed our hospital bag (you can see everything I packed HERE!), and loaded the car seat into the car, which has made everything feel so real.  Driving around with his seat behind me is surreal, and every time I look in my rearview mirror and see it, I get a wave of excitement to be his mom!  I can’t wait until I see his sweet face in that mirror in just a few days!

As far as symptoms go, you guys know I have had a super easy, blessed pregnancy this entire time!  However, even though it’s been the most amazing experience ever, around week 35 I started getting intense hip and pelvic pain, as well as sciatic nerve pain.  Standing, getting up, or pretty much switching from any position to another is challenging.  The other challenge has been sleeping!  I was so blessed until 35 weeks with perfect sleep, but right around that time I started waking up at 3AM every single night.  Most nights I’m able to go back to sleep (after a trip to the restroom! ), but sometimes I lay awake until about 5.

Other than that, frequent urination while pregnant is not a joke!  I know everyone talks about it, but in the last few weeks I think I have gone pee more times each day than I do in a whole week when I’m not pregnant! 😂

Please don’t take these things as complaining, because I am definitely not!!  I have felt nothing but grateful for the opportunity to carry my baby, but just wanted to be real and authentic with you guys so you know that you aren’t alone!  Pregnancy is no joke, and definitely for strong women!

Lastly, the best symptom of the third trimester has been nesting! And let me tell you, it’s a real thing and definitely not a joke!  I always thought people were just talking about the way pregnant women get ready for baby, but no way you guys.  I feel like I need to get every single aspect of my life in order before he gets here.  We’re talking down to organizing the pantry and my bathroom cabinets.  How that will affect the baby, I’m not sure, but I felt it was extremely necessary to be done now.

There have been a few products I have loved having this trimester which I thought would be helpful for any other pregnant mamas out there to know!  First, Blanqui leggings and UGG boots have been my uniform the past few weeks. My feet are too sore most nights to wear anything else, so I almost always slip on a pair of UGG’s, no matter where we are headed.  And these leggings are the best!  They were recommended to me by a follower originally, and I loved them so much that I bought multiple pairs.  They are technically “postpartum” leggings, so I know I will continue to wear them after baby is here!

Other than that, I’ve been loving sitting and bouncing on my birthing ball when my desk chair just isn’t comfortable any more, as well as at night!  And for sleep, I’ve pretty much resorted to only sleeping on the couch the last two weeks because it is way more comfortable.  I use my pregnancy pillow, as well as a pillow under my belly for support and sleep on my side against the back of the couch.  Having the back of the couch as support is HUGE!  Just a tip for any pregnant ladies out there!

Being pregnant through the holidays was so fun, and made the last few weeks fly by!  I am so excited to share our little guy with you and his name so, so soon!!!  Be sure to follow along on Instagram, because I will be announcing his arrival over there!!  And lastly, THANK YOU so much for following along my pregnancy journey and being so supportive of me through it all.  It has been such a fun experience to share these past 9 months with all of you, and I feel so grateful for all the sweet comments, advice, and well wishes you all constantly give!  Having your support has meant the world to me, and I can’t wait to see what 2019 will bring!
