New Home Tour

Welcome to our new home!  I am so excited to share our new home tour with you guys today and give you a sneak peek into how the new place is coming along!  When we first toured this house, we fell in love with the floor plan.  After buying and remodeling our first home, we knew that pretty much anything in a house can be changed…except the floor plan.  So, while some of the finishes in this house aren’t our favorite and we will want to change over time, the floor plan won us over!  So far we have primarily just painted the walls and kitchen cabinets (the whole house is Benjamin Moore ‘Classic Gray’), but we have so many fun plans and changes we want to make as time goes on.

It is a two story house (obvious from the staircase…haha 😂), but the majority of where we spend our time is downstairs.  The master bedroom, family room, kitchen, laundry, dining room, living AND baby boy’s nursery are all on the first floor!  Upstairs is a loft and two bedrooms.  Currently, we are using the loft and one of the bedrooms for office space for Something Beautiful, but down the line I hope we fill this home with lots of babies!

This photo (above) is the view from walking in the front door.  I love the curved staircase and how you can see right through those windows in the living room to the backyard!  This entryway is currently a work in progress, and I can’t wait to share the changes we are making already!  You can see the frames we hung partially here, but I will cover this whole space in a blog post very soon 😉.

Living Room

We were super fortunate that all of our formal living room furniture fit perfectly in our new house!  There are so many different expenses that come with moving, and I felt so blessed the the furniture we had for this room fit perfectly and I loved the way it laid out.  Now we can use that money we save to reface that fireplace…haha!  But, seriously.

One of my visions for this room is to add floating shelves into this space where our acrylic table currently is.  There is a matching space on the other side.  Here is my inspiration photo!  It will be much less expensive than built in bookcases, and will keep a really open and airy feel in the room.

Kitchen

Before we even moved in we had our kitchen cabinets painted, and it was the biggest transformation!  They were originally a honey color (just like the banister above) and really did not go with the look of all our furniture and our style.  I used the same hardware that I used in our kitchen remodel in our first home (you can see that full post HERE).

Our next project is to replace the countertops and backsplash.  We also ordered a new hood and microwave that are stainless steel and I think will really make a huge difference!  I also am excited to put three barstools at the countertop.  These are the ones that I have my eye on, and they’re currently on sale!

On the other side of the kitchen wall is the dining room that is open to the entryway, and off the entry is the laundry room and baby’s room!

Family Room

Another one of the reasons we loved this house so much was that the kitchen was open to the family room area!  There is a ton of open space here for a comfy sectional, as well as a breakfast table between the kitchen and living spaces.  We just ordered a big sectional that I can’t even wait to get because it is so comfy!  This house is so much bigger than our last, and all of our old furniture and rugs look so much smaller than they did.  Instead of 8′ x 10′ rugs, I am having to order all 9′ x 12′ ones! In the picture below you can see just how tiny an 8′ x 10′ rug looks in this space!

Eventually I would love to build a built in entertainment center/fireplace combo to house our TV and electronic equipment.  This fireplace I can totally see hanging all our kids’ stockings on and it makes me so excited for the Christmases to come in this home!

Master Bath

Hands down, the biggest eyesore of the entire house is the master bathroom in my opinion.  However, we are so excited for the huge potential it has!  It is about three times the size of our bathroom in our old home (you can see that remodel HERE), and the shower alone feels like a mansion! I can totally envision a freestanding tub in the large area that the big soaking tub is in now with a pretty chandelier overtop!  Here is our inspiration as of right now for the remodel we hope to do in the coming years!  I love the idea of doing stained wood cabinets because in our last house we did all white and I think changing it up will be super fun.

Just off the master bathroom is our walk in closet.  It has about double the space of the closet in our previous house, and I haven’t really had a problem filling it up 😉.

Master Bedroom

We moved all our old furniture right into our new master bedroom and haven’t really moved anything around since.  Across from our bed is a long wall that is perfect for a long dresser that I would love to add sometime soon and put our TV above it.  Theres also lots of room in the corner to add a glider where I am sure I’ll spend lots of hours with our new little guy.

Mainly, I just loved the extra space we’ve gained in here.  I am going to add a bassinet to my side of the bed (the side by the window!) and it still won’t feel crammed or tight.  Eventually, I would love to add one of these canopy beds to create this look!

Upstairs

Right now the upstairs consists of my office spaces and a guest bedroom.  The loft is at the top of the stairs and is our community office space.  My assistant, Lyssa, and I spend most of our days working at this round table.  We are currently (almost done!) remodeling my own office space which is in one of the two bedrooms off of the loft.  I can’t wait to share the big reveal with you next week, which is why there’s no photos here!  It is turning out beautiful!

The other bedroom off of the loft is our guest bedroom.  We brought all the furniture from our old house and I think it looks even better in this space!  There is plenty of room for all our guests to stay, and I am so excited for that!  The most exciting part of buy-in this home for me was how conducive it was to hosting people.  I can envision all the parties, holidays, and get togethers we will have here in the years to come!!!

Well, that’s our new home!  I can’t wait to share all the changes and progress we make over the next few years with you guys.  Most notably: the nursery!!!

We would love to have you come over and take a peak at our house….after the dining room is put back together. Still dealing with insurance companies from when the lady crashed her car into it! Love seeing all your posts! ❤️
